Ca. 40,5 x 30 cm. Vol. 1 (of 2). With 12 b/w collotypes with tissue guards & captions in English. Original decorated stiff wrappers, bound with (new) threaded cord. (Some wear to extremities, some of the tissue guards slightly yellowed at the margins, all images very good)

Ogawa Kazumasa, (1860 - 1929), printer and publisher, was a pioneer in photomechanical printing and photography in the Meiji era (1868-1912). In 1884 he opened the first photographic studio in Tokyo. He worked almost exclusively with the collotype printing process, the first form of photolithography
