Poet at the court of Emperor Honorius, much of Claudianus' poetry celebrates Honorius, his deeds, ministers and marriage. Claudianus is renowned for his Rape of Proserpine, a retelling of the mythological story of the abduction of Proserpine by Pluto. It seems he was a convinced pagan. Complete. Scarce at auction.
