In-folio (38,5 x 27,5 cm), 472 leaves, gothic letter in double column, 50 lines, ff. 2 and 345 with large painted initials (16 lines) in red, green and blue, and decorative pen-work extending to inner margins, 30 smaller versions of the same, other initials supplied in red, rubricated, 2 tears repaired in f. 10, marginal tear in f. 149. A few stains, but otherwise clean copy. Contemporary blind-stamped calf over wooden boards, spine renewed, with 5 metal bosses on each board, new end lvs at the end

"The second Brussels incunable : a monumental work on Christian ethics and canon law by the Groenendaal canon Arnold Geilhoven of Rotterdam (1375-1442). It is the largest book printed by the first Brussels Press, founded by the Brothers of the Common Life. No printer's device was used by this monastic press.
