"Ref. Cicognara 279 ; New Hollstein De Gheyn 245 (portrait). Abraham Van Goorle assembled a number of collections, which included his celebrated cabinet of ancient seals and rings, which are described and illustrated in this work; after his death, this collection was acquired in 1610 by Henry Frederick, Prince of Wales (1594-1612). This edition is thought to be a later issue of the first edition published in Delft or Leiden, c. 1601; it is possible that it was issued with or intended to accompany the edition of Pomponio Gaurico's De sculptura liber, probably published in Antwerp in 1609"
