The first attempt at a critical edition of the Hebrew Bible, containing the whole canon of the Jewish Bible, i.e. with all 24 books of the Torah, Neviim (Prophets), and Ketuvim. It was the work of the Halle prof. Johann Heinrich Michaelis (1668-1738). He consulted 19 different editions and used the 1699 Berlin edition as the basis of his text. The margins contain manuscript Latin subject-headings, references and notes. This ed. was printed in three forms: 8°, 4° and folio. It was dedicated to King Friedrich Wilhelm I of Prussia.
