[MOONSTEM EDUCATION of the BLIND]

The simplified alphabet for the blind as devised by dr Moon is bases on the roman alphabet. Parts of the capital or lower case roman letter are omitted. The system Moon, very much based on the Holy scriptures was responsible for embossing portions of the scriptures in over 300 languages. Invented shortly after 1840. William Moon (1818-1894) inventor of an embossed type for the blind gave up his plans for a career in the church when he became blind in 1840, and instead devoted himself to helping other blind persons to read and to study music and the sciences
