In-folio, [viii] - 717 - [17] pp, title printed in red and black, woodcut title vignette, ill. with allegorical frontispiece, portrait of De Ruyter, 7 double engraved plates by Bastiaen Stoopendaal, and 1 full-page engraved plate by Joseph Mulder. The engravings depict several sea-battles, views, the funeral of De Ruyter and his tomb in the Nieuwe Kerk. All 10 plates are late HAND COLOURED in a very attractive way. Title page laid down. Contemporary leather with 6 raised bands, decorated with gilt, front cover with chiffre couronné. Some scratches on the covers, lower part of first hinge skillfully repaired, mottled edges
