A very early attempt, by G.F. Verhoeven (Lier 1738-1809 Mechelen), at a critical study of early medieval Belgium. He deals with the different ancient cultures of our regions (from Celts to Franks) with their customs and lifestyles, the rise of new kingdoms, the Crusades and their influence on the ""eygen-aerd van de Belgische Natie"". Engr. arms of the dedicatees, the de Crumpipen brothers, by I. de Raedt. 6-page stocklist at the end (in 2 col.): ""Catalogue de livres chez Jos. Ermens"" (1781)."
