Ruinas de Zaragoza - (Ruins of Saragossa)

€400 - €600

8 plates only (of 36), engravings with aquatint, on laid paper, each c.400 x 515mm all unframed. Spain, 1808/14. Fine prints

A rare collection (Palau). Fernando Brambilla, an Italian artist favoured by Fernando II, became well known for his architectural drawings of Spanish royal residences. In depicting the Spanish defense against Napoleon, his engravings form a comparison with Goya's work on the same subject.
