The first part of the book contains de Lobel's hitherto unpublished notes on Rondelet's pharmaceutical studies; the second (and largest) part is the 'Dilucidae Simplicium Medicamentorum Explicationes' by Pena and de Lobel, which had been originally published as 'Stirpium Adversaria Nova' by Purfoot in 1570-71, and republished as 'Nova Stirpium Adversaria' by Plantin in 1576. (The latter) as it appears here is simply a further using up of the remaindered sheets of Purfoots's edition of 1570-71 (Hunt). On p. 252 of the sec. part is a the first ill. of a tobacco plant. Ref.
