Single leaf with a large white-vine initial 'C' (opening ""Cum nnatus [sic] esset ..."", Matthew 2:1) in blank vellum compartments terminating in pale yellow caps, enclosing finely drawn white-vine foliage touched with green wash, all on a brilliant blue ground, the following words in ornamental capitals in simple red or black edged with red, red rubrics, capitals touched in red, main text in single column of two sizes of 24 lines of a rounded early gothic bookhand, written without biting curves, the uppermost lines with accompanying music in neumes, recovered from reuse in a binding and hence with stains, discoloured areas (notably the reverse), tears to edges and small holes, Early Modern scrawls on verso, overall in fair condition, 340 by 240mm
