The present edition is the first complete edition of the eight books of Apollonius, containing the editio princeps of the first four books in the original Greek. The three following books were added in Latin translation from the Arabic, with a conjectural restoration of the lost eighth book. Four hundred copies were printed. The manuscript from which Halley made this edition is now in the Bodleian Library. Although other manuscripts, Greek and Arabic, have since turned up, Halley's edition has stood the test of time and is still highly regarded.
Ref. Schweiger I, 37 (""selten""); Hoffmann I, 203 (""gesucht u. im hoh. Preise""). Only 3 other copies found in auction results since 1985.
