This work apparently contains Ardène's only publication on auriculates, though he published separate works on the other flowers, including: Traité des renoncules (1746), Traité des oeillets (1762) and Traité des tulipes (1765). Ardène (1689-1769) was a French Jesuit and botanist who practised the horticulture of flowers and describes the specific characteristics of these plants, together with in depth details regarding their cultivation. The Bibliothèque Nationale de France online catalogue lists the author as Jean-Pierre Moet
