The society of rhetoricians ""De Violieren"" at Antwerp was one of the most famous of The Netherlands and founded probably in ca. 1400. Originally performed 23 February 1556 and published by 'Gillis van Diest, Thantwerpen, den xx. meert, an. voers.'; reissued at the occasion of the Twelve-Year Truce in 1609. Ref.
