Zeer zeldzaam. Eerste editie. Juan Caramuel y Lobkowitz (1606-1682) was een Spaanse cisterciënzermonnik uit een illustere Boheemse familie, briljant wiskundige en hij behaalde zijn doctoraat theologie in Leuven (tussen 1632 en '38). Tijdens die periode gaf hij leiding aan de fortificatiewerken van de stad Leuven. Hij was cisterciënzer in de abdij Ter Duinen in de jaren 1635 tot 1644. Caramuel zou meer dan 250 boeken hebben geschreven. Dit werk heeft hij opgedragen aan zijn abt Bernard Campmans. (A. Visart de Bocarmé, recherches..., 1928, p. 38-40. Hendrix, G.
