In-8°, [18], 252 pp, compl. with the portrait of Van Hille, cont. calf (used copy)
Rare first edition, the treatise opens with a 30-page theoretical introduction, then follow 36 capitals devoted to a wide variety of fractures, wounds, diseases, etc. But perhaps the most interesting chapter is the final part, on syphilis and other venereal diseases, including chancres, paraphimosis (""Spaanse kraag""), and genital ulcers. Van Hille (1633-1706) served as a naval surgeon aboard a ship commanded by Maarten Tromp before setting up his practice in Antwerp. His Tooneel der chirurgie was ""ein geschätztes Handbuch der Chirurgie"" (Hirsch). No auction records.
