Woodcut, 36,2 x 22.6 cm, laid paper (some spots). Final folio (265) from the German edition of the Nuremberg Chronicle (Liber Chronicarum), the most extensively illustrated book of the 15th c. The first Latin edition. The text is a universal history of the Christian world from the beginning of time to the early 1490s, written in Latin by the Nuremberg physician and humanist Hartmann Schedel (1440-1514). The woodcut depicts a blessing Christ as judge during the Last Judgement, with German text of colophon on verso. We add: Folio CII from the 1st Latin edition of the Nuremberg Chronicle.
